Group Exercise Class Descriptions

B.O.S.U. "BOth Sides Up" - This workout combines cardiovascular activity, strength exercises, flexibility, and balance work with familiar training elements. Working on the half ball, half platform surface will literally keep all the muscles in your body activated. The BOSU will tone and strenghten your upper and lower body, abs and back.
Aerobic Tae Box - Aerobic Tae Box is for all levels of fitness. It is a fun and exciting way to burn calories, tone your body and increase your energy level and self esteem. You will gain greater upper, middle and lower body definition and increase your strength by incorporating kicks and punches to loud energized music, in a total body workout. Body Blast- Total body workout including upper and lower body strength training, cardio intervals, abdominal exercises, and more. Each class is different and uses a varienty of different equipment including stability balls, jump ropes, B.O.S.U., hand weights and more.
Pilates Matwork - The Pilates method of conditioning is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises to lengthen and tone muscles, improve postural imbalances and develop flexibility and control while uniting the body and mind. Pilates matwork is designed to strengthen your "core" - the body's center of power. The core refers to the abdominals working in conjunction with the upper and lower back, the muscles surrounding the hips, the gluteus, and the muscles around the shoulders. A strong core relates closely to a healthy back, better posture and increases functional movement patterns. Individuals work at their own pace and modifications are given for all exercises. The work can be gentle and used as a warm up or as cross training to your existing exercise or sports conditioning program.
Yoga Basics - Invigorate, renew, stretch, and strengthen. This is a beginning to intermediate Yoga class. Practice basic yoga postures and work on strength, balance, flexibility and the mind body connection.
Yoga - Just a bit more than Yoga Basics. Postures are held longer and with work toward precise body alignment. This class is to be taken at your own pace and modifications are always given.

Power Spin - Spinning is a multi-level indoor cycling class that utilizes a change in pedaling speed and resistance to improve your cardiorespiratory fitness, fat loss, and lower body muscle endurance. Please arrive early for proper set up on the bike. Don't forget water and a towel!
Step N Dance - A multi-level step class that will get you going. This fun and energetic class uses steps and simple dance moves to get your heart pumpin'. The 50 minutes will fly by with our high energy instrructors and fun music.
Fit & Fabulous - Fit & Fabulous has been developed for members new to group exercise as well as active and healthy seniors. This class incorporates choreographed floor and step movements that help facilitate cardiorespiratory function and fat loss; exercises to improve upper body, lower body and core strength; and stretches to improve flexibility. This is a low impact aerobics class.
Strength for Seniors - This class is a notch lower intensity than Fit & Fabulous with extra emphasis on coordination, balance, strength and core work. Light to medium weights, bands and stability balls are used during class. Exercise modifications are given for any special limitations.
Water Aerobics - Water Aerobics has been developed for beginning to experienced exercisers. The low impact water enviornment is great for individuals seeking active recovery from high impact workouts, as well as exercisors that require a safe, low impact enviornment to protect joints. All movements are resisted by moving the body's limbs through the water with or without the use of buoys or noodles.
B.A.R. - Beyond Average Resistance - A Sonora Sports & Fitness original, this class combines weight-training and cardio to give you a full-body, complete workout every time. Balance and flexibility training are incorporated with focus on proper body alignmnent and posture providing functional training as well. This is one class you don't want to miss.
Sit-to-Be-Fit - This exercise format is designed to promote overall health and increase active daliy living skills (ADLS). Trainer and Water Aerobics Instructor Shanna will take you through resistance and flexibility exercises as well as light cardio all of which are important for strong muscles, good bones density and a healthy heart. You will also work on balance, coordination, stretching and relaxation. The exercises are easily modified for different fitnesss levels and different medical conditions. This format is great for people with arthritis and those recovering from or preparing for surgery. It is also a fantastic land-based addition for our Water Aerobics students. Stop by for a free demo.
Power Half Hour - Another Sonora Sports & Fitness original, this class provides great core training in just 30 minutes. Are you too cruched for time to get your crunches in? This class will focus on all aspects of your core especially those abs. You will learn a varitey of new and fun ways to strenghten, tone, and tighten your abdominals, gluts and lower back.
Step N Box - This unique class created by Sonora Sports and Fitness instructor "J" is the union of two great workouts combined to bring you the energy of stepping with the control of kickboxing. You will step, kick, punch and sculpt your way through this upbeat combination workout!
